Focus Verse: Psalm 70: 4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
Seeking the Lord is the major occupation of the Christian life. Or it should be. As we seek him, we find the answers to all our questions, the solutions to all our problems.
Those answers may not be exactly what we expect. Sometimes that answer is “just trust me.” We can always trust him to do what is in our best interest, even when we ourselves do not know what that best interest is.
Jesus promised many things, including that in this life we would have trials. But he also promised that he would be with us before, during and after all those times. That promise is the source of all joy.
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. It is the prime directive. Take joy in the Lord. Set your heart upon him and let him fill your life with his purpose. Then everything you do reflects the God you worship and adore. That is your testimony to the world.
Help us to maintain our heart’s focus on you. Grant that our joy is centered on you and our relationship with you. Keep us from being seduced by the world’s definition of happiness and exchanging it for the joy we seek in you.
In Jesus’ most precious name.
