But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. ~~ Jeremiah 10:10 (KJV)
Have you ever said, either to yourself or others, “Where did the time go?”
We start a task that should take ten minutes to complete. But we get engrossed, and when we look up from that task, an hour has evaporated. What happened to the time? Where did it go?
I have no answer to that question. God is the author of time, but He is beyond time. We think of things as being now or past or future. To Him, they are all one and the same.
Perhaps the larger question – the more important question – is this one. “What are we doing with our now?”
Is our “now” focused on Him and what we can do in obedience? Is our “now” focused on telling others about Him and exemplifying His love to this fallen world?
If our “now” is not so focused, how will we answer for our use of the “now” He has given us? I would dread having to answer in a way that would incur His indignation.
Today is what we have. How can we make it count for eternity?
Give us the wisdom to use our “now” wisely. Grant us the vision to see as You see and the heart to love as You love. Help us to make our “now” and eternal blessing.
In Jesus’ most precious name.
